Goodman Middle School 8th Grade Celebration

Its that time of year again!!  School dances…we’ve all been to them and now I’m taking photo’s at one! Its become an annual tradition for Shaun & I to pay Goodman Middle School a visit for their 8th Grade Celebration ~ since Shaun was a teacher there up until February of this year it was a little bittersweet for him to go back and visit all the kids who are moving onto High School next year.  As always we had a GREAT time with the kids and staff at the dance ~ I thought it would be fun to post the photos!  They should be going ont in the mail in the next week or so ~ we are so excited for all you 8th graders out there!!  Don’t forget us when it comes time for your Senior Photos!!

I love my stretch marks…

I have spent a majority of this pregnancy complaining. There I said it out loud….I’m not proud of this fact but its true.  I know I shouldn’t, and believe me, I’ve been praying every day for God to help me keep perspective and lose those last moments of selfishness.

So many women have told me how much they loved being pregnant, I have come to the conclusion that I am too much of a realist to really appreciate the nuances of growing a child. I’m also still too young to appreciate getting up early (by early I mean before 8AM).    I am much more excited about when the actually kiddo arrives. When we find out who it is that has been kicking and punching my insides.  Who it is that’s been dancing on my bladder and making my ankle swell to the size of tree trunks. I am excited to know if its a boy…or a girl.  We will find out in about 4 weeks, if all things go as planned. And it better.

I fear photos of myself, even before I was pregnant I never thought of myself as great in front of the camera so I would generally avoid it.  Being pregnant has held a magnifying glass to alllllllll the insecurities that I have about my body (again not proud to admit that either).  I battled with getting “maternity” photos done, simply because I didn’t want to face my fears.  I didn’t want to see what I looked like in an image ~ which seems so silly because I feel like I’m always encouraging others to face their fear of photos when I can’t even do the same.  My good friend Lisa wanted to do some photos….and I wanted her too…but I knew that if I was going to do this I needed to swallow my pride and face those fears.

Looking at them now, I am so glad that I was able to push those fears aside for about 2 hours so we could capture these images.  Lisa did such and amazing job, I can’t even begin to tell you what a gift she has.  I know that I will look back on these photos and not see my insecurity but I will see the anticipation and excitement of the fact that we are waiting for the biggest gift God could ever give us. Our baby.

Can’t wait to meet him/her.

And I am still a work in progress.  I know we’ll learn how to be parents.  We will grow into it, over time, by the grace of God.

ZaZa Gallery Canvas

A couple months ago I received a sample 16×20 canvas of an image from Josh & Jills wedding from ZaZa Gallery…we were in the middle of our nursery remodel and didn’t have a chance to actually hang it for fear that it would get ruined.  WELL  we’ve finally created a space to show of our work and this amazing canvas!

I know I’ve always wanted a canvas to showcase the photos that we’ve taken, I just never got around to ordering one until now.  ZaZa Gallery did an AMAZING job with the canvas.  It looks stunning, the colors pop and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the communication and customer service I received. Making the choice to have professional photos done is such an investment, not only for your time and you money…but for your family and choosing to trust a photographer to capture some of  your most intimate and beautiful moments.  I would encourage anyone to at lease give a thought ordering a canvas print, photos help tell your story, why not have a way to show them off?

For more information and pricing please go to ZaZa Gallery and check them out!

A post for Spring

A couple weeks ago I spent some time with the Streib Family…they had suggested going to Van Lierops in Sumner, WA.  Usually I try to post photos of people, which everyone wants to see…but sometimes I just need to post for myself.

So today I post flowers and trees…photos that I can imagine anyone with a camera and a little spare time could take.

But I like to take them too…

There is something about jut looking at pretty things. Its a form of worship to enjoy those quiet moments of beauty. I’m allowed to worship this way.  I’ve got a newfound freedom in allowing myself this pleasure.  I taken joy out of God giving me this gift and opportunity in this season of my life.

Maybe its a little selfish, but I need to do it.  I want to always enjoy what I’m doing.  With both passion & sincerity ~
